Personal Finance Guides

Financial planning in Singapore and Malaysia involves unique considerations that generic calculators often miss: CPF allocation rules that change at different age brackets, HDB loan limits governed by TDSR and MSR ratios, Singapore's progressive income tax system with a wide range of targeted reliefs, and Malaysia's EPF structure and SOCSO contributions. The articles on this blog explain the mechanics behind each calculation so you understand not just the numbers but the rules governing them.

All calculations on AsiaCalc use published rates from official sources: the CPF Board for CPF contribution rates, IRAS for Singapore income tax brackets and reliefs, and LHDN for Malaysia income tax rates. We update our calculators and articles when government budgets announce changes to these rates, typically in February (Singapore Budget) and October (Malaysia Budget).

These calculators are for planning and estimation purposes. Your actual tax assessment, CPF contribution amounts, and loan approvals are determined by the relevant authorities and financial institutions. Use the results as a starting point and verify details with official sources or a qualified financial advisor before making significant financial decisions.

Plain English explanations of Singapore tax, CPF, and money decisions. No jargon.
